Christmas is coming...

With just under 5 week so to go, wreaths and table flowers are on display at the shop. Our mossed wreaths are full with blue and white spruce, ivy, eucalyptus, berries and an abundance of orange slices, cones, chilli peppers, Spanish moss and lavenders. The rustic look is certainly popular this year. As always our fresh flowers wreaths are available to preorder for delivery or collection as of 5 December.

bright and colourful...

and it rained, and rained, but we filled the beautiful marquee with a mix of pinks, mauves, lilacs, oranges and greens - the mix of colours worked so well and the scent of mint, garden rose and waxflower was just gorgeous.

An English Church wedding...

Before the rain came.... we managed to decorate this beautiful church in High Hurstwood. The brief was make it full with lots of lovely flowers...and this is how it turned out...

Can't wait for the professional ones to come through!

Simplicity at it's best

This weekend's wedding was very minimal, white and simple. Certainly different from what we are usually asked, full and lots of English flowers, the larger the flower arrangements, the better" - so it was nice to do something a little different. Jo had asked for sweet pea to be her only flower used for the table vases - with the use of single lavender stems for placement at the table for the wedding breakfast.

Three days before, I was told there were very few sweet pea available, and not the quantities we wanted in pure white - and what was available was poor quality. So back to the drawing board - and we came up with a few choices, but Jo settled on Eucharis - and what a perfect choice!

Single stems of Eucharis in 120 glass bottles on both end mantels - the scent was heavenly. They were then moved to the wedding breakfast table and filled the central part down the whole table.

Hopefully some pictures to come of this, as lavender hair garlands were made, wrist corsages of delicate white waxflower, and simple buttonholes of the same. Can't wait to see them...

Becky & David...

Earlier this year, a lovely lady came into the shop with her young daughter, Olivia. She had walked so far, and not realised they were so far from home...she could not get hold of her husband-to-be, and I said my husband would be here soon, and he could drop them home. The walk back home was way too far for them, and to go via the road with no footpath too dangerous. So she came in and waited, and asked "I don't suppose you do wedding flowers do you?". The rest is history and today was the big day... What a lovely couple to work with! Enjoy some of the shots from earlier.

Doesn't get much better than this...

All the flower nerds out there will know how I feel right now!!!

This week we have organic, locally grown....when I say local, I actually mean a two minute walk from the shop....flowers available. Pictured here are some of the varieties, including chocolate mint, sweet pea, peony, stachys, salvia and some other bits and bobs.

So to start with I thought a hand tied bouquet would be good to use them in......but so delicate were the flowers, it's turned into a posy. It could even be a bridal posy, with that "handpicked" look about it, that we get asked for so often here.....what's more, it is hand picked!

The Castle...

We were back at Chiddingstone Castle week before last, and it looked very beautiful with the great hall filled with flowers. Here is the mantelpiece looking gorgeous with hanging amaranthus, rose, orchid, lily, stock and lovely foliage's.

this weeks wedding

on this fine sunny day, we returned to Hendall Manor Barns - it looked beautiful as ever. The immaculate lawns, the cool interior of the barn, made the perfect setting for Laura and Matthew today.

The bride carried a bouquet of lily of the valley, peony (duchess de nemo), freesia, rose (Norma jean) and avalanche roses. The scent was something else - I was delighted with it, and can honestly say "one of my all time favorites".

The table centrepieces were soft shades of blue, pink and ivory and flowers used were stock, peony, freesia, roses,, spray rose (blanchette) and soft blue hydrangea - all ready to go out to Hendall.

Ladies corsages of white freesia and spray rose

At the entrance a large floral arrangement in our lovely silver urn took pride of place in the barn. The scents were truly amazing this week;
so sunshine, scented blooms and a fantastic venue - what more could you ask for....

last week stuff...

little behind on the blog this week - just seen some pictures on the camera and thought I should get them out so here we go.

First is last weeks wedding flowers for a a lovely couple, Gary & Alison. They married at Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells, and everything looked very beautiful.

Unfortunately we don't get to see the table set up before the ceremony, so more to come on that...

Emily & Phil...

In May we had the pleasure working with a lovely couple, Emily and Phil. They married at Hendall Manor Barns in Heron's Ghyll and have kindly sent through some wonderful pictures of their very special day...

"your flowers were one of my favourite things about the day - I just loved my bouquet so much! Thank you!"
