We have some lovely little cakes in the shop today! Beautifully decorated cupcakes and scrumptious brownies. All made by our local supplier "Backtastic". I guarantee the cakes are some of the best ever tasted, they keep for ages, and can also come gluten free (all flavours and varieties - we tested the coffee and walnut gluten free, my husband could not tell the difference!). We have a few in the shop this week to see how they go. If you are passing by and need a little cake for after school, or perhaps to take for coffee in the morning, pop in and and grab some whilst they are here.

Orders can also be placed for traditional cakes, loaf cakes and novelty cakes.

You can let us know what you would like at the shop and we can order for you

to collect at your convenience.

the sun is shining on our first day back, and it prompted us to make up a few spring-like gifts, including mossed up hyacinth bulbs and old tom-pots - just gorgeous. Our new range of gifts is now available in the shop, lovely old wooden trays, shellfish boxes (perfect for the kitchen and garden), and some lovely vintage flower jugs. Pop in and browse our lovely new stock, with lots more to come soon!

Just been to the shop for the first time since Christmas Eve! It looked very sad and empty. So what better time that to start re-stocking with some lovely new gift ideas for the spring, and to prepare the shop ready for our first day of opening for 2012, next Tuesday 17th January. We hope to inspire you with some lovely ideas for the home and garden, spring bulbs are certainly in abundance now, and we are buying in some lovely containers to plant them up in. So we look forward to seeing you all back next week for a new look to the shop, and we promise no red roses, silver twigs, or pine door wreaths!

bulbs in November....

a little early i may hear you say... but the hyacinth bulbs were available a few weeks ago and we held off buying until now. They are great potted up in just about anything, mossed over with some fluffy green carpet moss. They make great long lasting gifts and look pretty sitting just about anywhere. We have ours potted up in reclaimed wooden boxes and zinc.

it really doesn't have to be christmas to enjoy a seasonal wreath on your front (or back, side, porch) door. Today we created a gorgeous wreath of vintage pink hydrangeas and roses, scabiosa bitterball heads, aliums and berried ivy. The results are just lovely on a gorgeous sunny day like this. We are offering these in various sizes (10" up to 16") and you can just choose your colours to match the door!

Wednesday and Thursday saw us at the shop with children aged between 4 and 11. The girls really enjoyed the table decoration class session. They cut their foliage, soaked the oasis, and started to create their masterpeices! The results were brilliant and all those who attended did a wonderful job. We finished off the afternoon with cookie decorating - not sure how many left the shop uneaten!

The sun was shining through the picture windows of the little shop. Couldn't resist getting the camera out and taking a pic of this gorgeous red hanging amaranthus. Looks perfect on it's own - i love it!

and some gorgeous little candles in the shop, we have more coming as stocks are running low! provence scented candles in beautifully wrapped lilac paper - the perfect gift (for yourself perhaps).

well it certainly feels very autmnal today so we have some rather gorgeous seasonal blooms in the shop today. Artichokes! amazing!

and some gorgeous little succulents - they last and last (even i haven't managed to let them die yet) and we have them in super little wooden market boxes

It has been quite a journey, but with a day to go, it's taking shape and we finally have some flowers in the shop to sell. They are just gorgeous this week, with amazing organic locally grown varieties, including scented stems of basil, zinnia, dahlia, amaranthus and celosia, to name a few. We open our doors this Friday, from 9.30am and are looking forward to seeing everyone!

a sneak peak at the shop so far - still lots to do, but with the helping hands of my wonderful dad, and my lovely husband, we are getting there slowly but surely! Mirrors going up on walls (with rather too many holes, well hidden) to a display counter at the front.... now we just need to get painting!

well the day has come, I have finally moved out of the old mill and moved to pastures new! It certainly feels strange looking in the old place without any furniture! I shall miss the cats, the ducks, the free growing moss and woodland foliage and ivy. I won't miss the damp, the dark, the flooding and the freezing temperatures!and i will be pleased to be somewhere a little warmer come November...the heater has packed up!

A day in Brighton...

Yesterday I spent the day at "Miss Moles Flower Emporium". A beautiful shop rammed with gorgeous flowers, the most unusual bits and bobs, and even more interesting customers... Babs opened her doors nearly two years ago with her wonderful flower shop and has been an inspiration to me whilst I have been beavering away with plans for the shop. Thank you to Barbara for all her help over the last few months, her patience and advice, and above all her friendship!

If you go to Brighton, swing by and pay the shop a visit - you won't be disappointed! You may even catch Babs.... she is a very busy girl!

A new shop!

as some of you are aware, I shall be opening a flower shop in Groombridge this September. This is very exciting news for me, and there have been many months of planning and preparing for the September opening. The shop is located at The Black and White Shop, The Green, Groombridge. A perfect setting with lots of easy parking right outside, with more parking at the rear of the shop. We hope to open the second week of September, if all goes to plan. I shall send out a reminder of the opening night, but keep your eyes peeled!

A lovely lady ordered a summer door wreath this week, for her golden wedding anniversary. When i delivered it to her door, she was delighted and I asked if she was having a party, and she said she wasn't it was just for a small gathering of family and friends. I thought what a lovely thing to have on your door in the summer, and any excuse to have one, in fact you don't need to have a reason - just something to brighten up the door on a lovely sunny day!

Oh how the rain just came down on Friday, and we really did feel for the bride. But Saturday was certainly an improvement, not perfect, but a relief to see some sunshine during the day (and a rainbow I'm told on the pathway leading up to the wedding breakfast - how perfect). Amy went for an English garden theme (the gardens were magnicfient, thanks to Sue and Ron who look after them with such care and attention) and the marquee looked beautiful with hesian runners on the tables, and a rather unusual seating area of hay bales which looked so enticing after a heavy day's work! well it's certainly been a busy few weeks gone by, and June looks to be the busiest month for weddings here in Kent. Last weekend saw us at the wonderful and most beautiful Buckhurst Park near Withyham, just outside Groombridge. The bride (the lovely Sarah) looked fabulous and we have had a sneak preview at at her professional photographs - amazing! I will post some of them when i have begged Mr Damian Bailey for a few pics. In the meantime, here are some less professional ones from moi....

well they are certainly in demand again this season for summer weddings. Here we crammed them full of sweet smelling peonies, roses, freesia, and pretty gyp to fill around the edges. They were used as table centrepieces, alongside tall silver candelabra - the room looked beautiful.

at each end of the room we decorated the mantelpieces with seasonal flowers incuding peony, hydrangea and lots of trailing foliage and eucalyptus. The bride and groom wanted to include the letters of love in the design - it looked so good with the mirror reflecting behind it.

last weeks wedding was a lovely soft pink and vintage theme at the lovely Hotel du Vin. The bride carried a bouquet of white rose, bouvardia and white hydrangea. It looked so lovely and fresh.

The table centrepieces were mirrored fish bowls overflowing with hydrangea and viburnham snowball, with little clusters of pretty gyp to fill those gaps. The bridesmaids posies were lilac rose with bouvardia and eucalyptus.

some gorgeous blooms are around at the moment. Last weeks wedding saw us at a private castle in Kent, just beautiful, and the bride looked stunning. her bouquet was delicate and filled with lily of the valley, stephonosis, and freesia amongst muted tones of rose and bouvardia - the scent was just amazing! The church was full of peony scent, even her lovely mother, Suzanne, noticed the scent and the flowers - and she was on another planet at that point (she tells me!)

The cake was rammed full with pretty gyp, vintage pink rose and spray roses. The cake maker did a magnificant job with the flowers, it took ages!

Fridays wedding was at the most beautiful thatched cottage in Shipbourne. The bride and groom were just delightful, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them both. Thank you to Trish and Tony for your kind words: Wanted to say the flowers were “ Blooming Perfect” absolutely stunning, a real shame they don’t last forever! From the porch, kitchen, my bouquet down to the buttonholes, which I haven’t seen the pics but hear they were presented beautifully. You helped make our day one of the best, thank you...

what a manic weekend here! 2 weddings and mothers day gone mad! This was the busiest mothers day for most florists in the south east to date. Due to it falling a little later than previous, flowers were more reasonably priced, and much more varieties available. We saw some beautiful scented stocks, viburnham snowball, and gorgeous roses in the palest of pinks and sand shades. A few pictures from the weekend.

for those of you in the Bidborough, Speldhurst and Penshurst area, you may have noticed some signs for a fantastic new farm shop! Juddwood Farm, Hayesden Lane. They sell their own lamb, beef and pork and have a beautiful selection of vegetables, cakes (they are gorgeous) and jams etc. They have only been open 2 weeks, but it's well worth a visit - the meat looks so impressive. I have just taken today some extra tall black-jack tulips, blue iris, scented stocks and some nice little spring bulb arrangements. Give them a try.

I am starting to think about Mothers Day looming - just over 2 weeks away! Today we had some amazing tulips arrive called black jack - a gorgeous deep purple: stunning. another busy wedding-weekend in the gorgeous village of Goudhurst. Even though spring is not yet here (although today we could be mistaken!) we used all the wonderful true spring flowers. Viburnham snowball was amazing, scented stocks, and delicate freesia, all in the palest shades of cream, green and white.

The bride, Katy, had a mix of table centrepieces with long and rull arrangements with candles, and then a circular table centre filled with scented wax flower, freesia, hydrangea and white blousy roses. They did look very pretty indeed!

Love them of hate them! I have to say I love hyacinth flowers, they are so delicate and look so spring-like! the thing to avoid is to let them go over - the smell can be really awful. So beware - as soon as they flowers start to shrivel and look tired, store them away for next year!

February is nearly finished! I can't believe the first wedding has been and gone in a flash. This weekend saw us at the lovely Spa Hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells. The bride was SO delightful. Her flowers were amazing (if I say so myself!). Anna's colour palette was pale greens, creams and whites, with a hint of silvery blue. We used blousy white and cream roses, viburnham snowball (gorgeous), scented tuba rosa and stocks, and sweet scented freesia. My dear friend Rachel was the photographer and she has promised to send a few shots over for me (I am so lucky!).

we are now planning ahead and looking forward to the valentines weekend coming up... in just a couple of weeks. This year it falls on a Monday, which is a funny day to be wined and dined, or perhaps taken out for the evening. Well, if your man needs a little nudge in the right direction for gorgeous flowers, amazing quality, and of course very reasonable prices, send him to us (or you could be cheeky and forward his email to us) and we will ensure you get some gorgeous flowers this year. Unlike other suppliers, our roses are cut just 48 hours before they reach us (some of the overseas companies cut their roses nearly 1 month ago!!!!) so when they reach you, they are just.....perfect! And it doesn't have to be just red roses, perhaps a gorgeous vintage pinks and black red hand tied, pure whites, or a delicately scented spring bunch. Your choice!

We are back to the Flower Stall this Friday, 21st January. Lots of lovely blooms by the stem, gorgeous hand tied arrangements ready to collect for those in a rush, and some spring bulbs at last. Bloomingperfect have been here, there and everywhere over the last few weeks. It's been a pretty hectic wedding season, working at beautiful venues with lovely clients. This weekend saw us at Limpsfield Church and then a private house in South Godstone, and before than the Swan at West Malling (can't wait to see that dress)! Then back to Penshurst, St Julians, West Heath, the Spa, back to Penshurst for a very big and glorious wedding, and now looking forward to a weekend off - hurray!

The scent of the lily of the valley was just unbeleivable, one is purely stems of lily of the valley (can you imagine the scent), the other is of scented freesia, vintage pink amnesia rose, and a few hints of the lily of the valley. I cannot decide which is my favourite...

20 silver candelabra - what a busy few days! all filled with pink and cream roses, hydrangea heads, spray rose, and the wonderful trailing amaranthus. All for a school ball in Tunbridge Wells - the roses were vintage pink to match the girls school uniform! Just gorgeous.

July 4th - a vintage wedding!

Here our bride had a real task in arranging her wedding flowers..... all the way from New York City! She was one of our most delightful clients (to prove it, we exchanged around 90 emails to date, and they are still coming in which is SO lovely). She wanted a vintage theme for her wedding blessing at the wonderful Chilston Park near Lenham after having had her ceremony in the US.

Her table centrepieces were a wonderful mix of tall clear vases and beautiful vintage bird cages filled with peony, blousy roses and large hydrangea heads. She was thrilled.

Here is a shot of The Flower Stall where we had a fantastic range of seasonal delights! The hydrangea heads were magnificent in soft green, brightest fuscia pink dahlia's to delight any vase arrangement, and some little vintage pots we made up with sweet william and spray roses - they sell faster than we can make them up! The lavenders were amazing, and nice large pots - the old fashioned Hidcote variety - they spread like wildfire!

Here was a couple of table decorations we did for a favourite client of ours. She was having a summer evening party in a beautiful "tent" in the garden. She wanted a couple of seasonal table centrepieces to put on the table - gorgeous open red charm peony, giant poppy seed heads, and the brightest fuscia pink stocks - can you believe the colours - so vibrant, for a hot summers evening!

Gorgeous selection of vintage blooms, green hydrangea, amnesia rose, and amazing viburnham snowball. The bride wore a beautiful vintage gown. And here in picture she purchased these beautiful wooden boxes - with the bride and grooms name, and the date of their wedding - how gorgeous it that!

She chose a teardrop bouquet filled with vintage pinks, pale greens and fluffy viburnham snowball and cow parsley.

At the church we decorated the archway with a beautiful garland of white hydrangea heads, pale pink roses, euclpytus foliage and scented stocks and peony. This was then moved to the venue after the ceremony to be placed on the decking area for the guests to enjoy all afternoon. The table centrepieces were cream pots filled with overflowing scented seasonal flowers, including rose, stocks, cow parsley, viburnham snowball and delicate pittosporum foliage - all just so pretty and perfect!

Beautiful peonies in shades of white, pale pink and claret red, the scent is amazing. Tuba rosa, another favourite for scent. Weddings so far this month are private houses with beautiful marquees on the lawn. Silver candelabra to give height to any table with crisp white table linen, or tall silver vases, overflowing with seasonal rose, peony, herbs and trailing ivy. Vintage pink is still playing a big part in the colour palette for many brides this season, amnesia rose a real favourite for bouquets to give that vintage shade to pale green and cream blooms.

Next week we are off to the lovely Chilston Park - the bride is flying in from New York and her there is vintage pinks, creams, and pale greens. Her table centrepieces will be a mix of tall glass elegant vases overflowing with roses, peony and trailing green amaranthus, and vintage bird cages crammed with seasonal rose, peony, spray rose and lisianthus. Pictures to follow shortly.
