heavenly scented lily of the valley, with white roses and spray roses with just a subtle splash of delicate foliage
it was truly dainty and very beautifully scented.

just a little something...
what a glorious day today in Groombridge. The shop is full of sunshine and a few little flower posies have been made up ready to take away.
shades of coral, fushcia pink with scented stock and alchemilla. These are the perfect "little something" as gifts, or perhaps a treat for yourself

the new gyp
I have discovered the most pretty little flower.... it's very delicate and pure white
I much prefer it to gyp. It has the look and feel of cow parsley or gyp, without the stink!
It also looks very dainty with peach spray rose and palest blue hydrangea
It's name is Ammi Majus, I actually got it thinking it was flowering dill, but was pleasantly suprised at what arrived. It is also called Bishops Weed and Queen Anne's Lace, and apparently very good for skin conditions. I prefer it in the pot myself...

whites and greens
the shop went bridal last Saturday after Fridays wedding. We had to bring back many flowers to the shop and had no idea what to do with them. Purest white delphiniums, scented stocks and peonies, roses and hydrangeas.
fortunately a man from the church came in and asked if we had any flowers..... we had just a few!, so gave him two complete pedestals
the beetle had to put the roof down to the get them in (not sure if they survived the windy drive back)
he was delighted and drove off taking good news to his lady wife

we do of course encourage brides to take away or give their flowers away at the end of the night, but with huge iron candelabra dressed for Penshurst, this isn't possible so we have to dismantle the most gorgeous blooms and tear away the last 3 days work.........exhausting

a few jam jars going off to Hotel du Vin for a small gathering tomorrow. Simple but very pretty, using nigella, parrot tulip, stock and rose antirrhinum.

the perfect birthday present
Lovely Polly from the shop gave me the most beautiful watercolour this morning of the shop - painted by her father David Gurdon. The picture is just amazing, and I love it. Here is a scanned picture which of course is not half as gorgeous as the real thing! Thank you Mrs Hobbs, what a clever dad you have...
